Cookies (Private Videos) Pro
Some videos require authentication to access. XGetter uses browser cookies to download private or restricted content.
When You Need Cookies
- Private videos — Videos only visible to followers/friends
- Age-restricted content — YouTube age-gated videos
- Login-required platforms — Some sites require authentication
- Higher quality — Some platforms serve better quality to logged-in users
How to Set Up
- Open XGetter and navigate to the platform page
- Click the Cookies button (shield icon)
- Paste your cookies in Netscape format
- Click Save
The cookie icon turns green with a ✓ checkmark when cookies are configured.
How to Get Cookies
Using a Browser Extension
- Install a cookie export extension:
- Chrome: Get cookies.txt LOCALLY
- Firefox: cookies.txt
- Log in to the platform (YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
- Click the extension icon → export cookies
- Copy the entire content
- Paste into XGetter's cookie field
Cookie Format
Cookies must be in Netscape HTTP Cookie File format:

- Cookies are stored locally on your machine only
- They are saved in
{AppConfig}/cookies/{platform}.txt - XGetter never sends your cookies to any server
- You can remove cookies at any time with the "Remove" button
Per-Platform Cookies
Each platform has its own cookie storage. You need to set cookies separately for YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, etc.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Solution |

| "Invalid cookie format" | Ensure you're using Netscape format, not JSON |
| "Cookie expired" | Re-export fresh cookies from your browser |
| Still can't access | Make sure you're logged into the correct account |
